I have also purchased another smart phone for the trek of which now makes 3 in my hands. Also purchased are 2 pairs of Saucony Virratas as well as 1 pair of Brooks Ghost for this journey.

I only have a ratty old pair of New Balance, however Navy Seal training has hardened the soles of my feet, and I will accept your invitation and run it barefoot with google glass attached to my head, and a Microsoft Surface Pro in my hands calculating my burn rate and immediately uploading data to the cloud for Boneyard real time perusal.

Okay so heres my compromise.

I will get 4 cell phones, then have some one in a pickup truck put a treadmill in the back, have them use an adapter to plug it in and I will run on that for the 1726 miles. Should significantly reduce my mileage but at the same time I'm still technically running the way there.
