I don't see what is in this for ND other than getting away from the NNBE and access to the ACC bowl games.
ACC (FSU, Clemson, Miami, and VT) get semi-regular FB games against ND.
It seems like a weird deal to make or an incomplete one.

Though many will continue to skoff, it is about associations. ND is a highly regarded institution. It does not want to be associated with Memphis, Houston etc. I don't blame them. I don't want UConn to be either.
If you look at the worst academic insititutions in the "big 6" conferrences, the Big East dominates. With Syracuse and Pitt gone, UConn, Rutgers and Georgetown stand almost alone (SMU if you consider them in the BE at this stage). The worst school in the ACC would be well above average in the NBE.
