When is the ball out of bounds? I have seen this alot the last few years when the refs appear to blow the ball dead and out of bounds but in my opinion it never goes out of bounds or at least hadnt yet. Usually a player is jumping to try and save it and they seem to blow it dead before either the player or the ball touch out of bounds. Happened on that play the other night. The replay was arguing who touched it, but I didn't think the ball ever landed out of bounds. I thought eventually, Solo dove and while in the air, knocked it back in. Now i dont want to really rehash that particular play because i may have missed something and probably did. I just wanted to clarify when is the ball actually out of bounds because I have actually seen this alot where it always seems like an early whistle. But I have also thought maybe its a delay in sound vs picture because sometimes it seems like the announcers get excited a second before the actual thing to get excited about so it could just be that.

Out of bounds
1) the moment the ball makes contact with something out of bounds. Even a ball thrown into the 50th row wouldn’t be out of bounds until it hit something. The clock should reflect when the ball hits something.
2) ball makes contact with a player out of bounds. That includes a player stepping out of bounds first then jumping and while in the air batting the ball back into play.

It looked like the ball did hit out of bounds before it was batted back last night.

It looked to me like Solo tipped the ball and it landed back in play. The ball did not touch anything out of bounds and I don't think Solo touched the floor out of bounds. I was sure the call would be reversed but we didn't get a very good angle. I can only surmise that one of Solo's feet touch out of bounds. We need to open an investigation.

Between when it deflected off of Solo’s fingers and the subsequent intentional tap, the ball bounced once. I assume it bounced out of bounds because both of Solo’s feet were clearly in bounds on the replay but the ball’s contact point with the floor was not visible.

Good find! By the time they showed the replays and finished reviewing without showing us that view again I didn’t have it in me to go back to the original broadcast angle and just assumed. But that settles it completely in my mind.
