Lebron is the most physically talented player in the NBA. He is not the most "gifted" basketball player. There is a difference. Kobe is 33 years old and scoring 40 points in 3 straight games, and killing teams in crunch time. Lebron can never hope to do that especially not in the 4th quarter or in close games because he doesnt have a great post game or a good mid range game. He also doesnt have the killer instinct that Kobe has at all times. Lebron's shot is average as well to put it lightly. Lebron has gotten to where he is based on physical greatness and athleticism not being a great all around player which is why he shrinks in big moments when defenses force you to shoot jumpers to beat them. When guys like JJ Barrea, Jason Terry, Shawn Marion, etc are making you look bad in the 4th quarter there is something obviously lacking in you.
I will cut him some slack though because Spoelstra is not a good coach and you can't win with guys like him who dont have any authority or personality to control big time players.
LeBron has no mid range game?
Well how about this "according to NBA.com's StatsCube,
LeBron made 45 percet of his midrange jumpers this season, which is an incredibly efficient mark for a high-usage perimeter player. Paul Pierce made 44 percent of his midrange jumpers. Kobe Bryant made 42 percent. Derrick Rose made 40 percent. Dwyane Wade, 40 percent. Kevin Durant, 42 percent. Carmelo Anthony, 42 percent." Then this beauty. "Ray Allen shot 46 percent, barely edging out LeBron.
Statistically speaking, out of all the high-usage perimeter players in the league, LeBron was the best midrange shooter not named Dirk Nowitzki (Dirk shot 53 percent -- he's a freak)." So LeBron has the third best mid range game of all players in the NBA, and second best of the high usage players.
No killer instinct? How about when LeBron scored 29 of his teams last 30 points in the 4th quarter and OT in the eastern conference finals against the Pistons 5 years ago?
LeBron has an average shot? Lets look at his season and career FG/3PT/FT percentages.
LeBron 2011-2012: 57.8%/30%/73%
LeBron career: 48.1%/32.9%/74.4%
And those numbers come from shooting over 20 shots a game.
LeBron relies on physical greatness and not basketball skill? Well, LeBron James is currently the second best in PER this year and just fell off the pace to have the greatest PER season of all time. LeBron also holds either 2 or 3 of the top 5 PER seasons of all time as well.
Finally, in the playoffs LeBron shoots 41.7% on game winning or game tying shots, while Kobe only shoots 28%. How about that?
for making me defend LeBron.
