Warriors, Rudy Gay agree to one-year contract

Temple is basically another KO in the NBA, he's around as a steady, lockerroom guy. It seems like a lifetime ago but he was on that LSU team with Big Baby and Tyrus Thomas that made the Final Four, and they lost to UConn that year in the regular season.
Rudy was a First-Team All-American his Sophomore year. I don't know how much more we could've expected.
I understand and kinda agree with hoops point. He had a world of talent but I thought he settled too much with a 3 point shot instead of being more assertive and taking it to the hole.
He's made a ton of money and played an incredibly long time but he never made the jump in his play. He's on my list of all time "what should've beens." If you created in a lab what an NBA superstar looks like it would be Rudy Gay.
This is where I am. High end career, tons of money, but left a hall of fame type career on the table.

He would have been a monster if Calhoun were ahead of the times and played a 3-guard offense with Gay at the 4 instead of the 1990s style lineup with 2 bigs and Gay at the wing. He would have been a rich man's Deandre Daniels instead of an awkward and sometimes ineffective, but taller, Rip Hamilton.
He averaged 15 pts per game his sophomore year. He would have definitely gone for 20 or more his Junior year. He relied on his jumper too much and he wasn’t a great shooter. If he had bulked up a bit in college, attacked the rim more and improved from outside a little bit, he’d have been a beast. Putting size, strength and talent all together into a great great product, generally happens for most guys their Junior year. He isn’t remembered like Ray, Rip, Emeka, Ben, Kemba etc. because he didn’t have that game changing evolution while at UConn.
His teams losing earlier than expected in the NCAA Tournament is also an issue for many. What if they won the championship in 2006? How would that have changed how people perceived Rudy?

I’m not arguing any of that. I’m saying exactly what you said, if he came back he’d have been a beast. Then he’d be remembered differently.
