Round 1 Friday games thread

This whole dynamic has made me almost root for Calipari since they ran him off. Plus the fact he beat St John’s last year
I called that 2nd round game last year of Arkansas defeating St. John's (pat myself on the back). Calipari, since he took the Kentucky coaching job, is 9-2 against Pitino.

Say what you want, Cal's teams at Arkansas have showed up for the tourney's in his two years thus far. He's certainly had the last laugh on UK.

So Santa Clara is hanging with Kentucky dead even.

Akron (who many of us picked) is down to Texas Tech. I should know better. Mid-pack Big XII teams are better than the same from SEC of B1G.

What a start to the day:

Spent the morning with a $35 lift ticket at Southington and, as if by divine providence thanks to the basketball gods, my bindings snapped just in time for me to get home for the opening tip.

After St. Mary's and Gonzaga underwhelmed last night, I thought Santa Clara were going to be frauds.

Maybe Kentucky (and the whole middle of the SEC) are just out-frauding them.

Akron just throwing the ball to Texas Tech over and over again. It's almost comical. Seems clear they aren't used to playing this level of athleticism.

They won at Xavier by 19. Georgia beat Xavier at home by 1. The SEC is good at the top and bad in the middle.

Here is the way my brain works when I think about UK. 1) I can’t trust UK in the tourney. 2) Wait, Coach Cal is no longer their coach so I guess I can trust them. 3) Wait, they’re the worst team that (ridiculous) money can buy. 4) I can’t trust UK in the tourney.

Akron within 5. People keep posting “This team is a total fraud” when the score is like 10-4.

SEC is 5-1, not 4-1. Went 4-1 yesterday (11 Texas over BYU, 5 Vanderbilt over McNeese, 4 Arkansas over Hawaii, 10 Texas A&M over St. Mary's, lost 8 Georgia vs. SLU).
So far SEC is not struggling. The only team that looked very bad was Georgia who was the only SEC team that has lost so far.

TT is shooting lights out, so this one could tighten.

Hey @auror I'm ready to empty the coffers for Allen Graves. Prior to this game, I've only seem him against mid-majors, WCC teams and lesser high-majors, but this guy is everything I'd want in a UConn power forward. Not his best game today, so far, but at 6'9 225, I don't see a weakness anywhere in his game. True "five-tool" two-way PF with long-term NBA potential.

These offenses down the stretch are generally putrid.

Kentucky spreads it and a guy goes 1 on 1 for a contested pullup 19 footer.

He's already projected to go late 1st if he enters the draft. Assuming he portals, competition will be very stiff.
