Rothstein: OSU and WSU in discussions to join MW for basketball in 24/25

Though I think they are going to try to rebuild the Pac-12, we should be rooting for them to stay in the WCC long-term and stay an independent in football. That would be two November football games for us as part of home and home series. In the mean time (with Army likely dropping us for 2025), we should try to get these two on the schedule for 2025 to round out that year's football schedule.
I think it would be wise for them to rebuild the PAC-12 because all the benefits of being in a conference. They will have access to football playoff as well as auto bid to the NCAA. The PAC -12 brand name is still worth alot.

What we should be doing is aiming to join as a football only in the PAC-12 provided they add some Eastern schools into the new conference.

Let's hope Oregon State and Washington State decided to stay independent in football for the foreseeable future.

Why didn't they add them in baseball? Is baseball not sponsored by the WCC?

Oregon State wanted to go indy as they have arguably the best program in the country and the WCC is meh.

The same reason Miami didn't play baseball in the Big East: they didn't need to.

.-.
Exactly. It's very likely going to work too. Boise, SDSU, Colorado St., Tulane, Memphis, and USF are probably packing their bags now.
They're going to raid the MWC for sure, idk about Tulane, Memphis, and USF. Those schools aren't big enough steps up over their other options to warrant the travel imo.

The Pac 12 and P5 litigation needs to be resolved before the Pac 12 can be reconstituted as there are potential liabilities associated with the Pac 12 (as well as other P5 conferences). Washington St. and Oregon St. don't want to be solely on the hook for the Pac 12 potential liabilities which is the core of their Pac 12 lawsuit and why they sought control of the Pac 12 financial assets.
