For those of us who don’t follow the very nutty gritty, could someone provide an update?

Here’s what I understand, perhaps incorrectly

-7
Diarra, Samson done
Mcneeley pro
Abraham, nowell, singare, Mahaney in portal?

Karaban tbd

Ball, Stewart, Ross, reed returning
Diaby walk-on

+4 frosh
+1 transfer

Which of the frosh are expected to be immediate impact?

Officially here's our roster right now and a rough outline of a rotation. Reed, Karaban, Ross are still TBD and have eligibility remaining. There's also a chance Furphy is ready to contribute next year at spot off the bench

Reed and Ross haven't officially stated they are returning, but all signs point that way. The rest of what you wrote is accurate.
Add in transfer Silas Demary Jr as an incoming Jr next year... from UGA. He will have an immediate impact.

As for our freshman, who knows? Three are top 30 recruits. It's widely believed Mullins is the most ready to contribute immediately. Many feel Adams is talented, but needs to get stronger before playing big minutes. Reibe is also quite skinny, but he's talented and as it stands now, he's our only option at center besides Reed, so he'll see some time by default, if nothing else. Furphy from Australia is a total wildcard. He looks very good on tape but we're not sure of the quality of his competition.

I'd expect 2 or 3 more transfers in, depending on what Alex decides. Stay tuned.

Ross and Reed haven't confirmed they are coming back. The tea leaves say they do. Out of the Freshmen only Mullins is a sure bet impact player due to his shooting. The wildcard is Furphy due to his size and his unique skillset and already been playing in the NBA Global Academy and the Sr. Australian team. Everything else you are correct with. I almost forgot Demary as our Atletic big PG coming in from Georgia as a Transfer.

Can I get an update when someone gets a chance.

Esp on who's expected to be impactful right away. :)

TIA.

Here is the grid with our current scholarship situation.

As far as freshman:

Braylon Mullins - Expected to be an impact player as a 2/3, either as a starter or bench player with starter-like minutes. Potential one-and-done. Most have high hopes.

Darius Adams - Combo guard whose top-30 ranking indicates he might make an impact, but won’t be expected to start now. I’d expect him to compete for a spot in the rotation, but his role is to be determined.

Eric Reibe - Has a clear path to client time as Tarris Reed’s backup. Given Hurley’s use of his backup bigs the past few years, as well as Reed’s propensity to foul, there should be plenty of minutes available.

Jacob Furphy - Somewhere between a developmental piece and the best freshman we have, depending on which Boneyard thread you read. I’m not expecting much now, but he’s a guy who could be a really nice role player for us over time. I like what I’ve heard.

To update the roster as of now (assumes AK is in the NBA for purposes of roster construction):

C: Reed, Jr., Reibe
PF: TBD
SF: Stewart, Ross, Furphy
SG: Ball, Mullins
PG: Demary, Jr., Smith, Adams

Mullins is a 2 - played 2 in high school, not a 3.
Furphy has played a consistent 3 in Australia, but Hurley has mentioned him as a 2.
Stewart can slot into a 4 if we need, but I would think we are patrolling the transfer portal while urging AK to announce a decision.

Point here is we have 10 names - with a cap moved from 13 to 15, it's likely we get to 12 or maybe 13. Easy if Karaban stays he is the 4 and we just need a sizeable backup from the portal.

Guaranteed rotation pieces:
Demary
Ball
Mullins
Stew
Reed
Smith
Mullins
Reibe

Fighting for remaining rotation spot/s:
Ross
Adams
Furphy

I think it’s a real toss up among those last 3 for the final rotation spot. There’s Furphy people, Ross people, and probably less Adams people. If Karaban comes back though, add him to the first 8, and there’s your 9 man rotation easily.

Those last 3? That's ridiculous talent to have fighting for PT.
We don't talk enough about Adams on here but that dude is smooth. His shot is beautiful and he has a non stop motor.
I'm still getting used to the notion of having an entire bench full of possible rotation pieces.

I agree! Lots of exciting wild cards next year-the thing that gives me warm and fuzzies is the upgrade in talent on paper vs previous years. This is really the first class where we are benefitting from the two Natties IMHO.
Basically three 5 star or near 5 star freshman and an Aussie that may be a bust or might be the next great surprise and a fan favorite. If everyone turns out to be “as evaluated” we have some crazy depth and lots of pieces for coach to play with next year.

I have to believe they are still targeting a center. Our bigs were constantly in foul trouble and huge drop off from Sanago and Clingan. Who’s out there, I don’t know but I think that’s why Reed hasn’t committed yet, he’s waiting to see if they bring in a starting center. Just my thoughts on this.

So Mullins is going to be in the rotation twice?

Oh boyyy. Nice to see you join us

Plenty of talented guys. I assume we will add two more. Have to get a forward to hedge against Alex's decision, but it may be hard until we know if there is playing time. The battle for playing time will be interesting to watch. Hurley has done a good job of bringing in guys with positional flexibility this year. That should make it easier to work guys in. All of those freshmen need to play.

Reed Jr committed

We still need a big capable of playing the 5. Wait until you see how quickly Reed gets two when he's starting. Reibe may not be ready to mix with some of the centers we will face. Ideally we could add a thick 4/5 guy. Gives us more options. Right now, if Reed got hurt we'd probably have Stewart at the 5.

I agree with needing a back up playing the 5. I was reacting to him saying Reed Jr has not committed. I will highlight that in my response to make it clear.

Jayden Ross has to be a rotational piece this year. He has the size and defensive potential we will need

Be careful. We thought that last season too.
I thought that as I was writing it. I think one of the biggest misconceptions is that we don't have athletes. Even before we added Silas, I can't think of a more athletic big than T nor a more athletic wing than Ross. Everything that has come out of Hurleys mouth regarding Ross flies in the face of every naysayer. There will be a lot of "i knew all along"s on here come December.

Agreed. Our remaining Needs are 1) AK stays or we get a replacement starting PF and 2) a 3rd string 4/5.
