This was released 18 months ago on Netflix. I usually follow a rule of thumb of not committing to a show until its second season, but I realized that this was a "one-season only" show so I watched it.
Stellan Skarsgard stars in a strange police procedural that ends up being really, really good. I like the hook of making him crazy, and the story is well done with interesting but credible twists.
The show only has 6 episodes, which I think is the right number, and makes this tighter than HBO's "The Night Of" which seemed to wander for much of its extra 4 hours of run time.
Skarsgard is really good in everything. His accent is awesome, and he switches gears with his characters as well as any actor. I put him in the Mary Tyler Moore/Tim Matheson boat of someone that should have been a much bigger star but has made some terrible film choices (this topic is worth its own thread). In any event, River is worth the watch.
