There won't be another. I think she handled the Maya situation poorly, but she built the game and like others have said, made it possible for the UConn dynasty. She deserves all her accolades. Pat wasn't perfect and she wasn't a saint, but anyone who tries to minimize the legacy is wrong. She Is one of the best in basketball, period.
How did she do this? Are you saying UConn wouldn't be good without Tennessee? That Geno would not be a legendary coach if not for Pat? Didn't they both get into coaching around the same time (Pat in 1974, Geno in 1979 before finally landing at UConn in 1985)? Does this imply that there would there be no Steve Jobs without Bill Gates or vice versa?

I was deceived by the title of the thread. This is about Pat sewing sowing not reaping ripping.

I think women's basketball has grown in levels or stages.... It had been sleepy dormant sport..... until a few colleges got the train moving a couple of generations ago.... places like Immaculata.... but it really was a small sport, and then, with the boost from Title IX, in 1972, the game experienced a growth. many colleges hopped on board...... Delta State, La Tech, larger schools like Auburn, USC, etc.... but the sport needed figureheads who could advance the sport.... there were several.... Tara Van Derveer, Jody Conradt, etc.... but it was Pat Summit who really was the face of the game, and branded her program as one where family was stressed, and effort and hard work were stressed..... of course the old moniker of defense and rebounding...... she definitely changed the game..... fast forward a few years, and Geno changed it again in a different way.... and few years from now someone else will step in and do the same in his/her own manner. Pat has a rich place in the history of the game.
