He was a great entertainer. Teamed with The Iron Shiek and "Classy" Freddie Blassie. I remember watching them at the civic center in Poughkeepsie. They would have 3-5 matches a night to be shown over a month on TV.

I saw them at the old New Haven Coliseum as a kid. I’ve never heard anyone get the kind of heat they drew.

Amazingly no one ever killed them
Although violence against them was common .
Ironically he was a Yugoslavian weight lifter who defected during an international meet.
He was Croatian , Ukrainian , and Italian
He hated Communist Russia with cause.
He was the faithful clean living guy so contrasted with the legendary infamy of his partner .

He knew his job which was to get the babyface over and did it for many years.
I ‘m not a wrestling fan but the Old timers of that field are truly interesting and entertaining.
