This is my stance and I'm sticking by it: Kemba should be in the Basketball HOF. His 2011 run, combined with avg 20PPG in his NBA career, 4 All-Star selections, and an All-NBA nod too. Put him on a contender instead of Charlotte for the first 8 years of his career and he has a ring.

He won't get in, but the HOF should put a bigger emphasis on college performance.

What does this mean?

Championship-winning former coaches Calhoun and Roy Williams will be formally honored in the Class of 2022 after initially being recognized as part of the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame's Founding Class in 2006.
 
This is great and Calhoun should be in every basketball hall of fame there is twice.

Slightly confusing as I honestly didn't know there was a separate NCAA basketball HOF in addition to the 'Basketball hall of fame' which is kind of the NBA Hall of Fame but not really as it does incorporate college, international, women's and even high school (Bob Hurley Sr.) in addition to the NBA (and of course ABA & Globetrotters).
In summation, even though someone can be in the 'basketball' HOF for just NCAA accomplishments, its good that there is a separate HOF for just NCAA accomplishments.

I'm guessing here but the way I read it is Calhoun was inducted to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005 so when the College Basketball HOF was created in 2006 as a subsidiary all the current HOFs were recognized. But now he's being inducted as an official member

I'm fairly certain that there has been a banner for the college HOF for JC, in the inaugural class, forever now. This is just a weird announcement.

I made this argument to anyone who would listen during and following Kemba's last year in Charlotte. Even put my money where my mouth is and invested heavily in Kemba cards and memorabilia. Lo and behold, people seemed to be coming around to the idea.

Not so much anymore.

I am as big a Kemba apologist as any, but I have a hard time seeing how he is a HOF'er after the last three seasons. Sadly, he just wasn't good enough for long enough.

*ETA: I was making the argument based on NBA merit alone, recognizing that the Basketball HOF didn't prioritize college performance.
 
How the hell is neither in there in the 1st place?
Kemba should be in there but he will not make the Naismith
