Died at 82.

When I was a kid, before cable, before the innernets, getting my baseball info from This Week in Baseball, Earl Weaver epitomized what I thought a "baseball manager" was. Those O's teams were tough and he was always blowing a gasket on some ump in every set of highlights.

Weaver was such an icon in his day. And the fun I had waiting, and finally seeing him storm the diamond to kick that dirt. RIP Weav

RIP Earl Weaver. A true visionary who revolutionized the way baseball was managed. One of the top 3 managers in baseball history.

He pretty much came up with sabermetrics and moneyball before anyone knew what those aspects of the game were about. He was a genius when it came to baseball and well ahead of his time.
