RIP Don Shula | The Boneyard

RIP Don Shula

I am a huge Jet fan and one of my most prized possessions is a personally autographed (to me) 5 * 7 black and white photo of Don Shula obtained at a JCC father-son breakfast in the mid-1970's at which he spoke. Rest In Peace Don

My first football memory is Super Bowl III when the Jets beat Shula’s Colts.

He seemed like a very decent man and he was obviously a phenomenal football coach. As a Patriot fan I didn’t like him, but I respected him.

Only NFL head coach to go undefeated for a season and he took that to the grave. RIP Don Shula. You were/are exceptional. Love to see the team he assembles upstairs.

This is a terrific 1/2 hour interview with Larry Czonka / Peter King. Just tremendous.

.-.
There have been some great stories told down here lately by former players, etc. On one road trip they were staying in a hotel that had a manned elevator. So that night Shula gave the operator a football and told him to feel free to get the autograph of any player who used the elevator that night. The next morning Shula showed up at the team meeting with the ball in hand and used it to bust every guy who broke curfew. I got a good laugh out of that one.
