RIP. I was reading a few articles and no details regarding her passing are yet available. She was so young - only 49...

Daedra Charles and Bridgette Gordon are the two players who in my mind are most synonymous with the rise of Tennessee's program to premier status in the late 1980s.

They also embodied Pat Summitt's formula for success: recruit the best muscle and elicit their all-out effort with a focus on defense and rebounding. It made for a less-than-visually-pleasing style of play, but there's no questioning the results (3 national championships in a 5-year period).

Rest in peace Ms. Charles.

They were the first two superstar players at Tennessee.
