RIP Cloris Leachman | The Boneyard

RIP Cloris Leachman

.-.
Not a great show but this theme always made laugh.

RIP

A singular figure, to be sure. Her performance as Ruth Popper in The Last Picture Show is heart-breaking and electrifying. I can think of nothing like it in cinema history prior to or at the time. If it was the only thing she ever did (and thankfully it wasn’t), it would have secured her place in history. What a phenomenal performance. What a tremendous talent.

Cloris Leachman, The Last Picture Show

"He Vas my BOYFRIEND!" One of the best lines in movie cinema. She could play any type of role. RIP.

My partner was married to Cloris' son, and had one child, Portia.
So I often got to enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner at Cloris' home in LA.
Most thanksgivings Cloris would bring out the turkey as Frau Blucher.
Always on, always full of grace and humor.
Godspeed!

And don't forget...she was the second actress to play mother to Timmy on 1950s Lassie.

Her best performance, though, was in The Last Picture Show. Powerful performance. She was a woman who just wanted to be needed and loved.

And this is an obscure show...but does anyone remember a short-lived 1980s sitcom called Nutt House? She played the matriarch...Harvey Korman was also on it. Another failed Mel Brooks show but I loved it. Aired Wednesday nights after Unsolved Mysteries and Night Court.
