RIP Bob Weir | The Boneyard

RIP Bob Weir

Bobby’s up there playing with Phil, Pigpen and Jerry now. Beat cancer only for his lungs to fail him. Crappy news. And only 78. I was celebrating Donald Fagen’s 78th tonight with a Steely Dan listening marathon and some choice IPAs only to get knocked down by this sad news.

I didn't want to drink tonight, then I saw this and cracked open a 21% double bourbon barrel stout. What a first full week to start the year.

Growing up in East Hampton, CT, I never knew a single Dead Head. We were Skynyrd and Zepplin fans. So, I never became a true fan.

That said, I love their music. And hearing other artists covering their songs.

Jam in Peace, Bob Weir.

In 2007, living in Ft Greene Brooklyn with roommates, we had a backyard BBQ for my birthday, end of August. My attractive Brazilian roommate said "I have a friend coming over you might appreciate". It was John Perry Barlow. Just cruised up on his motorcycle and hung out for 4 hours. He told so many stories. The Dalai Lama, aliens, oh yeah, Bobby's in town too he may come over. "Anyone have a guitar". Bobby didnt make it over, who knows. It was insane. Ill be listening to the Dead all week.
