Rick Barnes and TJ Ford

Never thought much of Barnes as a coach but he is a great guy, everyone has always spoken highly of him.

I thought Barnes was a solid coach. Yes seems like great guy.

Ford was a GREAT college player. Class act.

T.J. Ford vs. LeBron summer league '03. Somebody else on this board had to have been there.

Barnes is an excellent coach. One of the best tactical coaches at the end of games in basketball. I still remember him fouling Taliek Brown with 2 minutes left only down 4 or so against UConn in 2001-2002. Great move.

Barnes didn't know when to say when with his coaching. Sometimes a coach needs to move the chess pieces, and sometimes he has to trust his players enough to let them move themselves. Barnes had a tendency to over-coach rather than letting them play.

Very cool, lots of respect for Coach Barnes on this one and good for TJ

Great story. It's unfortunate that the NCAA chooses to make Calipari, Pitino, Williams, etc. the face(s) of Men's college basketball.
You understand that most coaches have strong relationships with their players and want them to succeed, why do you have to take a moment that has nothing to do with these people and forcefully insert them into the conversation it just makes you sound bitter.

Don't think it's the NCAA who chooses to do that, it's the results of the games, 3 of the winningest coaches who are currently active.

Not sure if NCAA should take a hit because maybe poor character coaches are winning often.
