On the UConn roster it states that Richie Springs is a redshirt sophomore. Why is he still a redshirt after redshirting last season?

A redshirt sophomore is a player in his third year at the school, but using only his second year of eligibility. The designation does not indicate that this season is a redshirt season.

Given the covid weirdness, it could actually be said he is a redshirt freshman, because he has three more years of eligibility after this season.
