All really good, but I have to admit that I am getting a little weary of watching the 3 attempts turn into rebound opportunities, and I'm guessing that a per game analysis would show that the .375 from 3-point range is only that high because of some early games with much higher percentage shooting. I know, a lot to ask and she is still a freshman, and I see that she does bring it with energy and impact for all the other components of her game. Just hope that 3 ball touch picks up again really soon....

I've never felt "weary"....I look forward to her coming off the bench and love watching her make a difference in the game. Her movement off the ball, her defense, her ball handling, her fluid-oil release, and the sweet sound of only net after a long arc from downtown is pure poetry to me. Oh, and she is a freshman.

I am "weary” of posters who expect players to meet statistical criteria that are artificially set.

I am weary of posters who are expert practitioners of the art of "damning with faint praise."

Signs of this are posters who, like this OP, begin their critique with "All very good, but. . . ." That "but" is the indicator that s/he is about to drop the hammer.

Some other well-honed techniques include:
  • Begin the post with a short recitation of praise, followed by "having said that. . ." as a lead-in to a long recounting of the sins (turnovers, missed free throws, whatever) the subject player committed.
  • The most common strategem is applied when disagreeing with a fellow poster. The sure signal that the critical (occasionally downright obstreperous) poster is about to let loose is the deceptive opening line: "With all due respect." Once you read those utterly insincere words, you better duck! Only abusive words, devoid of "respect," will follow.
Perhaps we need a new *abbreviation, DWFP, to use to identify situations like those I have described.

*Yes, DWFP is an abbreviation, not an acronym, because it is just a bunch of letters, each representing a word. Just like DNP in a box score for a player who stayed on the bench throughout a game. Acronyms create pronouncable words, like NATO, OPEC, seal, or scuba.

I had read a lot about KML, seen her in videos, and watched her in person. Two things have surprised me. She is really quick on her feet, much more than I expected. Second, though her shooting averages have always been good, her shooting is streakier than I expected. She addressed that about a month ago by saying that she does not want to be streaky. I think she is due for a big game.

I actually was wondering the same thing. Based on the stats her senior year, it did not seem as if she were a streaky shooter in high school.

I assume/hope it is therefore just a matter of adjusting to the challenges of playing Div I/UConn ball (increased defense, pressure, freshmanism, etc).
