“I feel like (Thursday) was a big step forward for our team,’’ sophomore Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis said. “Everybody came out with a different mentality. There was a lot of positive energy out there. Coach has been trying to push us to our limits and I feel like (Thursday) when he pushed a little bit we actually pushed back and we fought him.’’

If the team can beat Geno at practice, they can beat the Leprechauns.

The reality is that it usually takes 2 things for UConn to lose: (1) UConn does not play it's best and (2) the other team is really good or it plays a great game. We don't always bring our A game, but 80-90% of the time, we don't need it to win.

It would be nice if the fans had their A game and supported them on this board after loses instead of picking them apart with armchair quarterbacking and sometimes nasty comments.

Clearly, what we publically say does have some impact. Maybe some more support after a loss might help.

While I agree that the nasty comments are a distraction, criticism does not necessarily indicate a lack of support. Critiquing games and performances allows us to enhance our appreciation of the game wheter t be a win or a loss. Coaches do it, fans do it. Professionals at every level ctitique themselves looking for avenues of improvement. Rebecca Lobo tells the story of how the team was in Coach Auriemma's room after beating Tennessee for the national championship, they turned on a tape of the game and Coach Auriemma, coach that he is, started to go over the mistakes when the team just stopped him.

If our criticisms are measured, fair, somewhat informed, and not mean-spirited, there should be plenty of room on this and every forum for any and all of them.

The issue is that many of them are not anything like you mention. Some are not informed. Some are pointing out a bad decision after the fact where all that criticism does is pile on to the poor player that had the misfortune to make that bad play.

The issue is always a matter of interpretation on the style and substance of the critique.
