“The same thing you see every exhibition game,’’ Auriemma said. “There will be some great stuff that we do that people will say, `Wow, I can’t believe they’ve only practiced for 10, 12 days or whatever the heck it’s been.’ And then there will be times when you’ll look like … I remember one exhibition game I think we turned the ball over like 42 times or 32 times. It was ridiculous. So sometimes it’s just horrendous exhibition games. But I’ve got a feeling you’re going to see some stuff tomorrow that I think are really, really, really good. But I’ve seen some things in practice that are really, really, really good. Better than I thought they’d be. And I ask the coaches all the time, `Man, are we like a little better than we were last year at this time?’ They’re like, `Yeah. Way better.’ So that’s a good sign. And I’m sure tomorrow night we’ll see a lot of that.’’"

I'm not sure of of my grasp of Genotax, but the statement, "So other than Caroline who’s been in and out of practice and tweak this and tweak that," implies (or flat out states) that CD has had some issues this week. My brain is somewhat swiss-cheesed, but I don't recall hearing of that previously.

I'm excited for Banks and MoJeff. Caroline sounds like she might have limited minutes, so those two will really be carrying the load. Great for them to have the opportunity early on like this against an exhibition team. Lots of responsibility and lots of extended minutes but without a lot of challenge. That's OK at this point because it should allow them to get a rhythm going and build to the next set of practices and the next exhibition. Slowly but surely.

Man, this team could be scary good this year. Really, really, REALLY scary!

So, let me see if I've got this straight.

The hat Geno referred to will require two drawings. One for a starting pg and one for a starting f. I doubt he can just do a single draw because someone in the starting 5 has to be able to bring the ball up the floor.

Choices are:

Banks or Jefferson for pg

Stewart or Tuck for f

If he doesn't draw from a hat and selects on the basis of other factors, then team chemistry will be important to nurture, IMHO.

Not sure that I read it that way.

I know I didn't read it that way. I took it that they are careful with pushing Caroline in practice, like they did last year, due to her past injury issues.

Saying someone has been 'in and out' of practice sounds different than going slow and being careful in practices, which I'm sure they do anyway with Caroline. If Geno says she has tweaked this or tweaked that, I would take him at his word. Doesn't sound like she's starting, and particularly with Bria out I would think she would start if she were practicing consistently, even for just an exhibition.

Having said that, she's been through plenty of stretches like this and tweak ≠ hurt so I don't see it as a big deal....

One tweaks the engine of a Ferrari, too. There is a generation of us who spent our time bent over engines tweaking them until our cars purred. Tweak is not always or necessarily a negative term. Geno may be spending time tweaking the engine of his Ferrari.

I think it's probably gonna be the same as last year for Doty. Some days everything feels fine and she can go full out, other days, not so good and they have to be careful with her. Kinda day to day with her. If it's a good day, she starts, otherwise maybe not.

She sat out a game or two last year when the knee(s) flared up.
