Can't wait until Saturday? I bet you peek at your Christmas presents before Christmas. We had a few much appreciated shots of the new scoreboard before Towson. I wonder if anybody going past the stadium has time to swing by and see how the ribbon board installation is coming along.
Awesome! So any TV, cough cough ESPN3, shots will show boatloads of empty seats. Perfect!

Ribbon boards are crapola. Real fans are there to watch and appreciate the games, not have idiotic ribbon boards flashing at them. I want to watch ribbon boards, stay home and play video games instead.
I'll give you $5 if they show the seats and don't mention they are temp seats for the Mich game.

Yet another reminder why some people who used to post here don't, while the ones you wish didn't, do.
I agree that the most important thing is the product on the field. But I think the take away from the installation of ribbon boards and the new scoreboard is the willingness to invest in and improve Rentschler Stadium, which is a good sign going forward.I'm not here to get into a pissing match about ribbon boards. However, I feel I should be able to explain my opinion that they add nothing to the game and are merely a cheap distraction. Like DJ Joey or whatever his name is. What's next, pipe in crowd noise and chants over the PA like they do at some pro games? That's real classy too. Let's play the game. If the team on the field isn't exciting, none of this other bs is going to make it more exciting.

Explain that to the hundreds of people who stand on the concourse around the stadium and under the scoreboard! Many people, for as long as I can remember at the Rent (since it opened) are not there for the game, they are there for the event. Anything they can do to keep people in their seats I'm for. Including dazzling the monkeys with flashing lights and piping in music to remind them to that it's ok to cheer, and not only on third down!
If they are there just for the "event" they should stay in the parking lot. I do agree with your statement that, "Anything they can do to keep people in their seats I'm for". However, the hundreds that stand around the concourse drinking beer for the "event" should be shown to their seats or to the exits. They should be told this is a football game, not a sports bar. Just like the "fans" coming in near the end of the first quarter. That is obscene. I went to grad school at the Univ. of Tenn and that stadium was packed by game time. Of course they opened up the commuter lots on Friday night so the tailgaters had more than ample time to stage their pre-game "events".

Many of those people behind the red line there for the "event" are actually parents who, one might expect, are a bit antsy with their kids playing and need the freedom to move around.
I'm a red liner as well and damn proud of it. Sorry Nostical.... My voice can be heard all over East Hartford.
