How was a student athlete training table not part of the Basketball Training facilities when they were built? They now want to add them to Gampel? There is no relief for the longtime fans in the second level behind the team benches who have no room for their legs unless they are 5'8" tall. There should be seat backs in the entire arena. Seats can be added at the top of all sections on the second level sidelines. What happened to moving the concourse pedestrian walkway to behind the stands which would allow for more arena seating?

If you thought this was going to go well you are out of your mind. This university has severe ineptitude handing projects like this. Gampel going to look like a botched plastic surgery victim.

So, is this going to be ready for 25/26 too?

The student athlete training table is a kitchen/dining arrangement not an athletic trainer arrangement.

Some interesting potential improvements. Conversion of exterior canopies into interior spaces. Construction of premium clubs.

The loge seats are the most interesting aspect I have yet to see mentioned previously in messaging about the upgrades.

Also good to see they are at least starting to think about building out the concourse which has been in the university master plan for a decade.

We won’t see it anytime soon but if they can get that done by 2030 it would be a game changer to the building in a way that improves the experience for all fans and not just the 1%

Of course. They are in the practice facility all the time. Again, with all the room the practice facility had how was this not put in?

A kitchen/dining room was installed when Werth was constructed. “The Werth Family UConn Basketball Champions Center has a full dining area and buffet-style serving area on the second floor for the basketball teams.”

This will be additional kitchen/dining room within Gampel.

Projected to finish in September 2027. If their construction timeline is accurate then we likely will be playing every home game at the XL Center in the 2026-2027 season

Interesting Construction Start Date and Duration:

 Anticipated Construction Start: February 1, 2026
 Construction Duration: 18 months
 Construction End: September 30, 2027

I would assume the month of February to March '26 would be for Contractor Mobilization, with little to no serioous construction work being performed at the end of the '25/'26 regular season. If there were work that needs to be performed I guess they would schedule the affected games to be played in Hartford. The better part of construcion work will take place during the '26/'27 season, so probbly all of the games would be played in Hartford.

There would likely be no interruption to playing games there. Interior renovations would occur in the offseason, expanded concourses and additional work would be completed in season, maybe resulting in limited access in and out, but in no scenario are they going to allow a full season of not playing there.

That's a good thing. I attended UCLA when they renovated Pauley Pavilion and it was closed for the entire 2011-2012 season. Very lame.
