Replay the last few second

What do we even call this thing? It’s more than a shot - it’s a sequence. Is it “the play” - “the sequence” “ “the blitz” - what properly encapsulates it?
It really was a sequence but that doesn’t have any cache. With a nod to the Simpsons, The Unpossible.

I’ve watched it 500 times so far. It still doesn’t seem real. Everything had to be perfect and then Mullins had to make the shot. So many factors worked out perfectly and then the ball doesn’t even hit the rim. It’s amazing.
Cuz you were hoping just one time it would miss??

As I was using the self checkout at the grocery store last night the kiosk next to me instructed its customer in a robotic voice to "please move your...onions to the bag."

I started smiling ear-to-ear as the word "onions" triggered my memory of this shot. Good times.

Yeah, as great as It was, I thought CBS messed up the end to rush to 60 minutes for some stupid reason. Instead of showing the handshake line for 30 seconds, they rushed it right to the replay which they could’ve saved and then had no post game studio analysis just to get to 60 minutes, which has been on every week for the last 40 years! piss poor. You really think there was some old guy just sitting there waiting for 60 minutes to start and mad because he was watching the ending.??? Do better cbs. We didn’t even get a shot of a scheyer and Hurley handshake. And it wasn’t even like the game was running particularly long. Weird decision by the execs.

@RuffRuff posted a video in the Illinois thread but makes sense here too.

Bob Hurley Sr makes an excellent point. Sarr being the worst free throw shooter on the floor was hurrying to get rid of the ball and may have passed the rock to #2 boozer in a less than ideal situation. I maintain it is all on Scheyer. You have the worst shooter handling the ball twice knowing he could very well get fouled.

Karaban’s pass to Mullins was absolutely perfect. It’s like a masterpiece painting. Every time I see something new.
No need for a timeout. The 'coach-on-the-floor' called the play and initiated it in a way that instilled confidence in the player most suited to make a long-distance 3-pointer.

In the most blunt way to put it, isn't that what Braylon was hired to do? The sound of that swish was both an emphatic yes and a simple checkmark.

TBH, it looked like a well drawn play the way Mullen passed to AK and then got it back for the dagger. But it wasn’t.

I would actually like that for my notification sound. Anyone really good with video editing that can capture it?

Fun to see the two Duke players who were down court run right by Braylon, and then see the shot go up over Evans whose arms stayed down by his sides. It's as though they imagined they and UConn had more time to work with.

Evans was so good against St.John's that the he worried me the most, but he made little impact past the minutes when Duke opened up its lead.

What most hurt Duke in 2025 was its over-reliance on Cooper Flagg at game's end. I seem to have gotten my wish that Scheyer would repeat this strategic mistake with Cameron Boozer on Sunday night.

By contrast, I've been delighted to watch Danny keep riding Tarris this tournament, and yet, when the final magic moments came, the bench showed Reed, Ball, Reibe and Stewart. How about that?

Evans also worried me the most and after making his first two shots he did nothing the rest of the game. I don't typically like rooting against college players but he should've kept his mouth shut this tournament and his Instagram handle is hilarious right now.

Oh this is great. Perhaps I'll take a peek.

Until right now, I've had no awareness of him outside of his play against St John's, so I've thought of him only as a deadly shooter.

I'm wishing and crew a wonderful long weekend in Indianapolis.

Edit: Insta handle!

It's an act. I don't know why he does it but chill. We're back in the final 4.
Eh. It’s part of the mojo now. There are repercussions for actions. Especially putting that d**m Dook picture in among all the great Husky photos. He’ll always be a dookie to me.

Lmao. Thank you so much for pointing this out. That is indeed hilarious.

What makes it even funnier to me is every time I watch the replay of the shot, the first thing that comes to mind is my mom screaming, "get a hand up!" Something she instilled in myself and all of my teammates growing up.

Not sure if he didn't want to foul or if it was just lazy defense, but honestly I'm leaning towards the latter

The funny thing about the whole “he should’ve put a hand up crowd” is their lack of understanding of the game at that level. You put a hand up when you are guarding someone in normal territory playing normal defense. Braylon was 40’ out and given how fast that play developed, no one was prepared to guard him at all. Evans wasn’t even sure who was going to shoot. Alex buzzed the ball back to Braylon and it was gone in a second. On top of that, you don’t expect him to pull up and shoot a textbook jumper from there, you expect at least a quick dribble or two to get closer. People questioning the defender are completely clueless. Braylon was the guy for the shot because he has unlimited range, a super quick release and he even had nice elevation on it. Nobody was stopping or even distracting him the way that played out.

Agree, he was not close enough to defend the shot. Also, if he somehow rushed up to Braylon who shot and missed due to the foul 35 feet from the basket he would have been called an idiot. Especially if Braylon knocked down three foul tries.

Great video

I was a sophomore during the NIT championship year and a senior for the dream season. My entire adult life has coincided with the insane runs of both the men's and women's teams. It is surreal to think about how fortunate I have been.
Thanks.

It matters not at all that I'd seen the video. It's great, AND I've never encountered a Boneyard post connecting to a video on LinkedIn.
