I know we've had discussions on here before and everyone is portal focused now, but if you have any info, I'd appreciate it.

We are replacing windows in our house in NJ. I've used Pella on other properties in the past and they were fine. The house doesn't justify Marvin or wood windows. I've heard mixed reviews on Anderson

Anyone have any input on other vinyl window choices? chatgpt suggested Harvey and Simonton, neither of which I know anything about

TIA

My own advice is never hire someone who contacts you. Ask a couple of the local lumberyards to suggest a contractor.

I replaced all windows and doors in my house about 10 years ago. I went with Pella, but really wanted Marvin. Just couldn't justify the extra 15k when I thought that 35k for high enough. They are holding up well. That is what I paid in Indiana.

If you go with a generic window company that you see on TV or at a Home and Garden Show, etc. They are all basically the same and are made in a similar, if not the exact same, factory. When using those non name brands check the corner welds to make sure that they are flush. The cheaper windows will have a raised seam where the corners meet and for me the aesthetics of that aren't great.

DO NOT GO WITH RENEWAL BY ANDERSON. They are really expensive and I don't think that they are apart of the actual Anderson Window company. They tell you a price and then suddenly say that if you sign up today they will knock off some huge number, but the overall number is still crazy high.

My sister-in-law put in windows from those non name brand windows and I actually like those much better. They were cheaper and they look similar to Pella.

Go to the showroom of each company you are looking at and then check reviews on reddit, other sites if possible. Look at how their corners are welded together and that will tell you a lot about how well their windows are built.
