Rent sound system upgrade? | The Boneyard

Rent sound system upgrade?

I guess we’ll find out on Saturday. But the silence here doesn’t make me believe it’s been reworked.

According to this article, the renovations are a 5 Year Plan.

"The state legislature has approved the first $24 million for upgrades that would kick-off a five-year plan — $12 million a year — for major renovations at the stadium."

You might think in an open structure that would be one of the easiest things to get fixed for everyone's benefit.

I thought it sounded better…but I know it’s very dependent on where you’re sitting. So not sure if it was my seats or they actually did something new!? But I did notice they have installed 5GUW antennas all around the stadium and I had great Verizon service for the first time ever!!

I thought it sounded a little better today, too. Same seats (for me) as last year. I generally heard and understood everything today from refs to announcer to videos. Couldn’t say that last year.

The sound system is very spotty and uneven. I was in Section 120 yesterday and struggled at times to hear/understand what the PA announcer was saying. It should be crisp, clean, and loud but not overbearing. Gameday Connor sounded a bit better and the refs' penalty calls were ok at times, but in General the PA system needs an upgrade. Oh, and I wasn't impressed with the new PA announcer. John Tuite was just fine, and it seems like they made a change for change sake.

The article I posted above says that sound is one of the scheduled upgrades. But the renovations of the Rent are on a five-year plan so I'm not sure when it will happen.
