Why so little love for Renee on this board? Seems the conversation always goes straight from Mojo to Sue Bird... Is it "only" one Championship?
Jen won at least one of the NPOY awards her senior year. Sue won most/all of them her senior year. Moriah may be the 2nd best player in the nation, behind only one of the all-time greats in Stewie. Renee was a top 4 player, along with Maya, Tina, and Angel. Renee played a key role in Minnesota winning the WNBA title after Lindsay Whalen got hurt. I think being reunited with Maya will help her.SMH.. where else is a two time AA with a NC considered top four at her school / position? Boggles the mind if you think about it.
You came over from the football board just to chide us for not appreciating Renee enough? Really?SMH.. where else is a two time AA with a NC considered top four at her school / position? Boggles the mind if you think about it.
slow day, i guess. no intent to chide, just making conversation....You just came over from the football board just to chide us for not appreciating Renee enough? Really?
Let's not forget second-team AA, Bria Hartley.I think Renee gets love, but most rate her behind Sue, Moriah, and Jen. That's a stellar group.
Renee scored 1,990 points, was a 2x AA, and a Lieberman winner. She was also one tough cookie at 5'7".
Who is Taliek Brown? Renee gets plenty of love here. Why so little love for Renee on this board? Seems the conversation always goes straight from Mojo to Sue Bird... Is it "only" one Championship?
I think a closer comparison can be drawn between Taliek and Maria Conlon...
... eye of the beholder; I prefer to think I asked a question based on a perception and got some pretty good answers. In other words, trolling.
If you go back, sample archival replays, and watch Renee (and for that matter any number of other former Huskies whose names are not bandied about as all-time greats) play it is impressive just how very good they were. Obviously if you're going to win 10 championships in 21 seasons your teams will have had to exhibit outstanding talent, still we let Renee, Ann, BT, Ashley Battle, Rita Williams et al fade a bit because we are showered each year with future stars. No, not trolling as much as opening an interesting discussion. It is pretty amazing that guards like Rene and even more so Rita or players like Nykesha and Sveta can become background noise when talking about great Uconn players. It speaks to the incredible wealth of talent that has come through Geno and CD's school of basketball. And how fortunate we fans have been.
Renee and Ketia was one of the best backcourt duos in UConn history... their defense was fun to watchIf you go back, sample archival replays, and watch Renee (and for that matter any number of other former Huskies whose names are not bandied about as all-time greats) play it is impressive just how very good they were. Uc is right, for Uconn fans it's been a Golden Age of Basketball.
I sometimes questioned Renee's shot selection, but not often during her senior year. Hell, I questioned Diana's shot selection until we won the 2003 championship.I have to admit, Renee was not my favorite at PG. I always thought she shot too much and too quickly sometimes (ducks head in shame)
