One of my all-time favorite Huskies set the WNBA record for threes in a half yesterday. Seven. Some of them tough shots. One a lucky one. But she is playing some of the best basketball she has ever played. And she does it with a smile.

If she can keep it up and the Dream can do well in the playoffs then she should get a look for Whalen's national team spot as far as I'm concerned....

Rene scored 30 pts, 8-13 from three, yesterday vs. Liberty.
She is one of the most under-valued UConn player.

Renee Danielle Montgomery (born December 2, 1986) bided her time all year playing behind McCoughtry and Hayes. Now that Angel is done for the season, it's her turn to get behind the wheel and see how far into the playoffs she can "drive" this team. Renee is a leader her teammates will follow.

She won a national championship with the UConn Huskies in 2009, and 2 WNBA championships with the Minnesota Lynx in 2015 and 2017.

All she needs is the car keys. Renee: Everybody get in, shut up, buckle up and hold on, I'm driving (reverting back to the good old championship days mentality at UConn).

Renee has been a streaky shooter for most of her career and has caught fire the last two games after a dreadful slump where she hit just 4 of 35 in the 7 games prior. Dream will need her to be stay from deep, especially with Angel out, as they are the 2nd worst 3pt shooting team in the league (just 30.8%).
