Rob Ambrose is a genius, a QB roll out with a pass/run option, you never see that anymore. His undefeated Townson team put up 42 points on Saturday and they take on Maryland this week.

Remember when ..... Jordan Todman was a back up RB? Was that the point of the OP? Or was it that we played one of many bad ACC teams, and now that the world has turned upside down, deficit at an all time high and the market is tanking again, we're all left to wonder why we are so eager to get into the ACC?

Remember later that season, how we were so peeved that Donald got no respect, consideration, or even a sniff for the Heisman?

I sure as heck do.

What's even more depressing is that the 2008 team underachieved and wasn't IMO as good as the 2009 team which grossly underachieved. Those were the days indeed.

There's no question the 2009 team was better than the 2008 team, when you look at the results of both teams. Had Easley and competent QB play emerged that year...

Of course, special teams play hurt, too. A UNC team we should have beaten badly killed us because of special teams. That UNC team was pathetic and couldn't beat Maryland or UVA.

I remember it fondly. Tyler Lorenzen would be ideal for this offense.

I'm not sure that "there's no question". The 2009 team clearly had the better offense, particularly once Easley emerged. But the 2008 team was probably our best ever defensively, and had the best running back and offensive lineman that we've had. We had top 25 talent at RB, OL, LB and DE. The interior line was OK. We just had one gaping hole. I considered that team an enormous waste of talent.

The 2008 team as more talented but was blown out by WVU, Pitt, and UNC. The 2009 team was competitive with all of those.

The 2009 team also won games against quality competition (Notre Dame, USF, Ohio, South Carolina, debatably Baylor when Griffin was healthy). The 2008 team beat Cincinnati, Buffalo, and who? The 2008 team was very talented, but wasn't "better" than the 2009 team.

Funny how records work out. The 2007 team had the best record and was probably the worst team 2007-2010. The 2010 team was probably better than 2007 but not as good as 2008-9 and we went to the Fiesta bowl.

I remember people on this board bitching about Tyler Lorenzen's inability to throw deep and stretch defenses.

At that point, I think we were 3-0 and things were looking very good. I remember Lutrus dad sideline interview and he was glowing.

I was less pissed about the Heisman and more pissed about the RB centric post season awards.

The perfectionist in me still thinks about that last interception on the 4th and forever play and wonders why we didn't knock the ball down. I think we would have gotten the shutout without that play...

But I digress. That was probably my favorite UConn game ever and was the most complete performance I ever saw from the team against a supposedly quality opponent. More of those please...
