i thought Koroma's athletic defense and experience last yr playing the 5man in a 5 out offense lets him slide right into the Samson rotation spot if Reibe isnt ready defensively. I cant see Danny being ok having to use both centers in drop, so Koroma has a chance I think

100%, I think we go with experience and koroma did put up sweet numbers against a really good team last year named UCONN.

I'm gonna say it, Furphy reminds me of a slightly more fluid Cam Spencer. Finds space in the defense, sees it, even waits for it to open, and gets a variety of shots off depending on the D.

Announcers say he is 6'4 which in my mind takes him out of being a bonafide 3 and turns a lineup with him at the 3 to a 3 guard set. I did like the physicality he showed boxing out a much bigger player in the post. An away from the ball play.

I only watched about a quarter of the game, going through fast forwarding, but I saw Furphy physically guarding Dyspantsoff and forcing him to throw up a poor shot. Maybe he's going to be the Big East Rookie of the Year and lead us to the promised land once again!

Let’s not expect Cam results from Furphy in his first year, especially rebounding but damn he has Cam touch on floaters and midrange. And that cannot be taught. We see so many players who are good 3 point shooters not able to do that.

Given the USA talent, seeing Furphy get 24 to lead Australia in that game - a lot of put backs, floaters, pull ups. Not his best at the 3, but he is a baller and yes, first lefty floater off a slow dribble was Cam like

I've been saying he was my fave incoming recruit (even over Mullins) for quite awhile now on the board, since the original Furphy post. Not all of us had him destined for pine time.

Many like predicting playing time, who sees the floor and who will sit. Hurley and his staff will figure it out.

With that said, Furphy, even though he's not a plus athlete, has an advanced offensive game and approach, that should earn him some playing time. One major factor for who plays and who sits will be how well they perform on the other end of the floor and ball security.

One particular skill that I noticed he's very good at getting into the paint and drawing fouls. Now granted the Big East offials allow a lot of contact, but if he gains a reputation of drawing contact, that might continue to be one of his plus capabilities.

There will be a learning curve and how well each player and collective rotation perform will impact who plays, who sits and for how long.

Throughout last year's season, the staff had a significant problem getting the rotations to play consistently on both ends of the floor. Lots of turnovers and inability to stop penetration. As the season went on the bench shrunk. This coming season, the options on the perimeter are much better and more deep. The frontcourt seems to bit thin. The more the team shows cohesion with multiple combinations, the more the PT will get spread around. There will be lots of opportunity to earn minutes. Karaban, Ball, Reed Jr and Demary Jr, all proven performers, will all get a lot of PT. The rest will be battling for whatever PT is available. Those who show they can defend, make solid decisions, demonstrate ball security, learn to execute the multi-action motion offense, though we might see a little less of that, and be productive when they play against high level teams, which there are a lot on the schedule, will have a leg up on the others. I'm not sure who that will be.

He does shoot lefty and he did have a floater that was lefty but he did also have a right handed floater too.
