Philbin was a Navy veteran and a graduate of Notre Dame. He once, and perhaps still does, held the record for most hours on U S television. Quite a guy!

I can't recall his ever bad mouthing anyone or putting anyone down just to make himself look good and in show business that is an anomaly.

Regis had Rebecca Lobo on his show after the first UConn championship. For some reason I was home that day and watched it. The two of them were shooting baskets. Lobo was a nervous young kid. She has come a long way, and does very well on the ESPN.
