I'm finding it hard not to get excited for tomorrow's game...
How awesome will it be for the players to make this a statement game and punch RE right in the mouth and send him back to MD with solid thumping.
The Towson game was ugly on so many levels, but somehow that seems like last season. It's a new week, MD is in town, and I'm hoping the crowd is energetic.

blindly optimistic maybe.

Go Uconn!!!!!

As down as I was, I'm starting to feel it too. I think we need to win the TO battle by +3 to win this game.

I'm getting a little sick and tired of the pollyanna's lecturing people about how they're supposed to feel after a fugging loss to fugging Towson. We didn't lose by a fluke.

I'll be there cheering like I do every other week but my God people........let's not lecture people who choose not to ignore reality.

Are you talking about another thread? I don't see lecturing here...just the OP stating that despite everything he is still looking forward to the game.

And...I agree...I have had 2+ weeks to be pissed off about UConn's situation. After the Towson game, I didn't think I could even watch this game. Now I am looking forward to the game.

Of course...I reserve the right to be completely miserable if the team puts out another Towson-level crappy effort....lol.

I probably didn't pick the best thread to say this, but it's more the lecturing (from the poster who began this thread) over the past 2 weeks.

This is what losing does. Gets me edgy.

Yeah I was gonna say, no reason to jump on OP's back for being excited about football.

Troll boy is back. . . . nobody is telling anybody to feel bad, you dope. The depressingly consistent poor results produced by your Uncle Paul are doing an excellent job of that all on their own. You and your who cares of we win or lose, go get 'em next time gang here have made a conscious choice to ignore, if not endorse, mediocrity. When the game ends tomorrow I want Edsall to be 39-13 at the Rent and PP to be 8-7. Think about that.

You just don't get it, do you? We are all aware of the state of program. No one is endorsing mediocrity. Your bashing of WM and SH and consistent negativity is getting a little boring.

Yes, boring, just like a .667 losing percentage. I know it's early babe, put the readers on. If "Uncle Paul" looks like "WM" or "SH" there might be a problem.

what are you cheering for? If Uconn won, it would prove you wrong and clearly as someone who knows everything, you can't be wrong.

Maybe it's that internal conflict that's making you a little edgy..

So you are openly admitting that you are rooting against UConn because you dislike PP????

Go Uconn!!!!!

I hope your wish comes true but the one telling point of your post is 'somehow that seems like last season' in reference to the Towson debacle. The unfortunate thing is that this does seem just like last season, which seemed just like 2011. Nothing has changed, there have been zero improvements and to boot quality players move onward and out of the program (some to the NFL). At this point (mid September of year three) there should be some tangible reason for hope. The hope that we have unfortunately is similar to a child dreaming of a miracle.

stop trying to analyze. I meant that 2 weeks ago seems like a long time.
and if uconn wins today, it really is a new season.

has it really gotten that anyone openly optimistic on this board is attacked, analyzed, and questioned?

good luck with that... I questioned the same thing last week.
hopefully you attended the game against Middle Tennessee. Apparently that's some sort of 'badge of courage' for this guy.

1 - Nobody on this board was attacked by my above post. Are you sure that you aren't tying to play martyr?
2 - Good for you that two weeks seems a long time ago to you. To me it is still far too recent.
3 - Why am I not allowed to analyze things? If the program were more successful could I then analyze what is being posted?
4 - Yes, if we win today it really is a new season. I do hope that we win tonight, next week and beyond but optimism should be a bit more cautious and guarded when all things are considered.

Crazy things happen in football. You see up and down games. I'll be there as always. I'm not one of those balloon knots yelling from the stands at PP, or booing. But I am very not optimistic about our chances against this Maryland team. Just on energy alone. I never see the Uconn bench looking like it has any. I just don't like the body language I've been seeing over the last couple of years. The most stark contrast ever was the Butch Jones led Cincy team last year hoppin and boppin the whole way, and our guys just standing and lookin. You saw it in the Towson game. No emotion. P is a depression in the earth, and the team is standing in there with him. The kids don't even acknowledge GDL when he's talking to them. I'm not feeling it.

Is endorsing this team endorsing mediocrity or are mediocre people telling others to give up?

I'm supporting the team no matter how difficult things get. Actually I'm optimistic!

I'll be cheering every play for us to win. I just can't see how it's going to happen. P isn't turning around anything. We were on our way to blowing the game last year to these guys until MD tried to be cute and called that idiotic play on 3rd down late. They're better and we lost a ton of good players.

I'd love to be proven wrong about this debacle. It wouldn't be the first or last time I was wrong about something.

Anthony Weiner remained optimistic to the end that he'd be the next mayor of NYC! At least that's what he kept saying to the media. I was all for him: what a media circus that would have been. But hey, you can be optimistic if you want!
