It was way more than that too. They were consistently pro Marquette from start to finish. It's been a while since Ive seen that
I won't complain about usual mistakes refs make but that two points was huge because it was anything but usual.
I mean the refs lined the kids up in the wrong direction, decided after UConn scored that they were going in the wrong direction and took the points off the board. That's just ridiculous.
The Play-by-play reads OT: Marquette wins the tip...just watch the tape and tell me who won the tip. Absolutely horrid mistake by the refs.
Some guy named Rob Dauster tweeted this:
"Officials got that call wrong on the goaltend. It should have been two points for UConn. From Rule 5, Sect. 1, Art. 3 of the NCAA rulebook: "When the official(s) permits a team to go in the wrong direction, and when the error is discovered all activity and time consumed shall count as though each team had gone in the proper direction. UConn should have gotten the two points, and it should have been Marquette ball at the other end of the floor."
They should appeal that game just for the duck* of it.
If it was no goaltend, Marquette would've had the ball at the other end. They gave it to them because of the alternate possession.I believe they ended up deciding there was no goaltend, no?
Nevertheless a poorly officiated game.
It amazes me that the team that ditched the Big East is getting spoon fed here.

Let's not whine about the refs please they weren't very good but I'm sure the Marquette fans could say the same.......

No, they took the points away because UConn was shooting at the wrong basket.
