I thought the refs were awful again and the majority of calls went against us again. We got hacked on several drives with no call then they would call ticky tack stuff on us at the defensive end. The point guard for Nova pushed off about a dozen times with no call and Pinkston was allowed to do whatever he wanted, he carried the ball, pushed guys to create space etc.

Before anyone brings up the Lamb foul on Cheek, yes the refs missed that one for Nova but that was the only bad call against Nova.

When that happened I said to myself that was the tradeoff for Johnson stiff arming Boat like Adrian Peterson all night....then of course Lamb gets pulled to the ground on the inbounds pass.

I thought the charge call on Shabazz was terrible.

The percentage of charge calls that aren't really charges is incredibly high. I don't know why officials err on the side of calling it.

IF THE DEFENDER MOVES AFTER THE BALLHANDLER HAS LEFT HIS FEET, IT IS NOT A CHARGE, NO MATTER HOW VIOLENTLY THE DEFENDER FALLS BACKWARD.

And yes, numerous other terrible calls and non-calls, most of which went against UConn.

We did not get jobbed in the last minute or overtime, at least.

Spoke about the refs after the Marq game. James Breeding and Roger Ayers are 2nd tier guys, like BEAVER who called the tech on Boat Saturday. That charge tonight on Boat was awful. Refs do make a diff..

.-.
The call I don't understand was the timeout they gave to Sutton. I mean, his foot was on the line and the referee was looking right at it. Whether he was calling timeout or not is totally irrelevant.

What in the world was running through that referee's mind?

The announcers were all over Ty Johnson throwing out a stiff arm every 3 seconds and getting called zero times for it

On the Sutton timeout call he hacked Bazz's arm and then called a timeout while on the sideline, there were many other call worse than that against us. I thought it was almost as bad against us as in the Marquette game. We have been getting killed by the refs lately, they don't respect/fear Blaney at all.

I couldn't believe that the refs let Johnson push off the entire game.He did it in the open with the refs a few feet away.

Pinkston had one carry late second half that was absolutely ridiculous. He was getting the Allen Iverson rules tonight.

Just another reason we need Calhoun back. That nonsense stops with the hall of famer on the sideline.

I agree. Was blarney in the refs ear about Williams pushing off? I'm sure JC would have been all over them.

I always expect the out of bounds calls to go against UConn, unless they are blatant. He was out of bounds, the ball they called out on Oriaki was out on Villanova too. Just tired of it.

We win an unbelievable game and people find a way to complain about the refs.

That's why I love Bilas and McDonough. Every other announcer ignores awful calls, they always call them out.

Yes, that is true but the lack of calls and some I still can't figure out played a roll in keeping Nova in the game. The Refs are part of the game and have an impact on the game.

Johnson Odom did the same thing on Saturday, all game, against Boatright. It was blatant then, too

on half the foul calls against Bazz & Boat, the only contact between the players was an extended forearm of the Nova guard

also loved Bazz's over the back call, when the only contact was the Nova player extending is arm and holding off Bazz while grabbing his shirt

after Saturday, I may be a tad bit touchy

I agree with everything said here but we can't forget the inbounds plays at the end. Our guards were getting held and pushed trying to get the inbounds and the refs did nothing. We shouldn't have even had to try to inbound. The fouls should have been called immediately.

I agree. This will change when Calhoun comes back. Right now everyone is piling on Uconn and the ref's are not giving Uconn any respect.

End of the first half. Nova guy steps inbounds with 0.9 left. That should be our ball under their basket with 0.9 Maybe we do nothing, but huge officiating error.

And to think we still won the game.. I think this is the corner turning game. We won a tough game with the other teams shots falling. Our offense didn't look like complete crap, everybody was stepping up and it looked a lot like last year. Roscoe was on the floor a lot playing good defense and hustling for the ball. Alex was a presence in the low post and Shabazz just ran the offense. Lamb completely took over and was the scorer we all hoped he can be from the beginning of the season. Things are looking up.

Good points all...bad calls in the last ten minutes were at least six to one against UConn. One not mentioned was the blown out of bounds where they called it off AO when it was clearly off the 'nova player with a few seconds left...wish they could use replay like the do in the NBA to get those calls right.

Failure to call the repeated push offs against Boat then calling one of them a block on Boat was just criminal...but so was the timeout while standing on the endline in sutton's favor and the repeated travels and carries by Pinkston
