Absolutely, I thought Hassan could learn from Ernie and Ernie loved the event flyer UConn student Caitlin Shea put together. Frankly, I was very pleased at how receptive both Hassan/UConn and Ernie with PC background were about event. Hassan got approval from his coaches. Let’s not forget Dee Rowe’s close relationship with Dave Gavitt and Danny Hurley’s dad is from the same cloth. The deaths of Marvin Barnes and Dave Gavitt prompted Ernie’s book.Ernie D was a magician with the ball-Pistol Pete without the shot. Vertically challenged once he got to the NBA. A New England legend. Just ask Calhoun
Edit-Hass is gonna learn about some PG skills spending time with Ernie. I guarantee you the Hurleys know about Ernie
His strength was assists and scoring. Knew how to run an offense and get the ball into the right hands in the right spot. Just like Calhoun, he loved fast break basketball too, with an uncanny ability to look up court and throw the pass where the guy would be. Ernie and Marvin Barnes led their team to the Final 4 and in my view would have won the NC if Marvin did not injury his knee. Cromwell’s Donny Lewis was a key member of that team too.Ernie D was also called Ernie no-D. Gifted scorer who rarely played defense.

At any rate, I am sure Ernie respects Hassan’s defense.
Hope you can make it. I agree on Donnie Lewis and talked to him this weekend and hopes to attend event.Donnie Lewis a great local player from that area. Ernie was a delight to watch with the ball in his hands!

Ernie D just asked if Kevin Stacom can come and of course I said sure. So two former NBA guards will be there with Hassan Diarra. Kevin was an NBA scout until recently too - so they can maybe give Hassan some tips about getting to the league - although UConn covers that well.
As great a player as Don was, in baseball & basketball, he's even a nicer guy.I agree on Donnie Lewis and talked to him this weekend and hopes to attend event.
I agree, very humble and great guy with a good perspective. As great a player as Don was, in baseball & basketball, he's even a nicer guy.
He was a scout for the Dallas Mavericks for many years too.Kevin owned/owns a nice bar on Thames in Newport RI.. The same day that Righetti pitched a no-hitter against the Sox I saw him and Hank Finkel at the outdoor bar outside the Black Pearl they were great guys!
