I'll take a coaching staff of KO, Donny Marshall and Ray Allen in 3-4 years.

Calhoun's assistants have all been such great head coaches, I have absolute confidence that Kevn Ollie will be another in the long line of, well maybe 2, who were sort of successful at low mid-majors...
How many of Calhoun's assistants have gone on to be highly successful head coaches elsewhere? He also evaluated them. Jeez. Calhoun kis a good coach, but he hasn't exactly filled the head coaching ranks with his proteges.
In a perfect world, Ollie turns out to be good at Xs and Os and runs with the job. That remains to be seen.
Iin a perfect world, this team would not be the weakest UConn team in decades, and Calhoun's likely absence would provide a good opportunity for KO to get his feet wet. I am tired of Blaney's coaching. I just don't think he's a good game coach.
But it's not a perfect world, this team is pretty bad, and I think it would be a mistake to let KO coach some games if JC has to miss them. Bad for his reputation, I think.
Thanks "Smarty Marty" haha. I live in the present not in the past for the purpose of conducting business. Decisions made with a emotional bleeding heart are usually disastrous and "quite frankly" (as Calhoun would say) the program is at a crossroads. JMHOKidding right? Are you an idiot, or just a retread from the folks that wouldn't stop blathering about how Calhoun couldn't coach anymore, only to see him win NC #3....
Now go back to sleep...
143-129 lifetime with 2 NCAA second round departures for DL (27-34 his last 2 years @ Virginia). He did the right thing by resigning though at Virginia. Ironically DL is an assistant with Missouri.Calhoun's assistants have all been such great head coaches, I have absolute confidence that Kevn Ollie will be another in the long line of, well maybe 2, who were sort of successful at low mid-majors...
BlueDogHouse, when did you change your name from Frank Ivy?
Calhoun recruited DL to NE. Then JC brought DL from NE to UC as an assistant coach. Now DL is with AO in Mizzou! hahadid he hire them for UConn?
Was Hobbs so bad at GW? How'd the other GW coaches do? How bout DePaul/Virginia? They improved?

Oh, I didn't know that. You're a fount of knowledge. And this crappy guy that Calhoun recruited to Northeastern was the most successful DePaul coach of the last two decades. More successful than the guy who left Clemson for that job.

You have just answered my original question. Thanks "Smarty Marty" haha. I live in the present not in the past for the purpose of conducting business. Decisions made with a emotional bleeding heart are usually disastrous and "quite frankly" (as Calhoun would say) the program is at a crossroads. JMHO

"James A. Calhoun (AKA Evel Knievel) recruited Dave Leitao to Northeastern University (where James A. Calhoun coached from 1972-1986). Then James A. Calhoun brought Dave Leitao from Northeastern University to University of Connecticut as an assistant coach. Now Dave Leitao is with Alex Oriakhi in Missouri! haha
So who brought him to mizzou?
Sorry for being criptic. I hope this helps you.![]()
Yes we are all aware what coaching stops Leitao and our other assistants have made in their careers, we are all diehard UConn fans. I was kind of getting at how strange your posts are, you seem like a very weird dude.

And I'm almost 180* from that line of thought. I was, and still am in favor of an open recruitment and process for the next coach. I think it's only fair to Manuel, Herbst, and the school. That said, I've been liking KO more every time I read about him. I think he'll be a superstar as a coach. I only hope we're all happy when it's over. Time to win some more NCs.As a fan I want to have some continuation; a coach that will connect to the awesome memories i have. However, if I were Warde Manuel I would not hire Ollie, not any time soon, and not 3 years from now. What other school would even consider him for a head coaching position, and are the names you're thinking of in the same metaphorical league as us?
i'll say it because no one else will
we would kill it on the trail recruiting wise with KO and who he has on the staff with him in the future(Kayleigh Heckel maybe evern a Ray or some 1 else). combine uconns bball history, all the nba players and ships along with a nba vet as your head coach who is black(i am not trying to be racist, please dont get me wrong. but a balck man who played for uconn then for years in the nba is a big adavntage on the trail vs old white guys as coaches) knocking on kids doors, game over we will never skip a beat. kids will eat that up to no end. its already happening. once JC gets healthy and leaves on good terms post ncaa issues and the pf being built were going to be the same monster we have been for years now. no school will be in better shape then us. none. the squid @ uk will do his thing until he leaves there when the ncaa finally sniffs stuff, coach k isn't going to be around for ever etc...KO and crew could be our next 30 years at uconn and i would be 100% behind it from the start. considering KO's bball career on the court and a couple years under JC, i'm not really scared at all about him with the x and o's. he is the future, get behind it and love it. were going to go from a 1 coach powerhouse to a all time powerhouse soon, join the ride or get off the pony.
