I have read a few articles from the 2nd live period and talked to a few people and it seems like we are pushing all in with abu and not black. seems like the staff has watched abu games yesterday and today...

I remember reading a tweet the other day that a Black is done growing and is considered a little undersized for a true 4, and that he needs to work on expanding his range. Wonder if that's why they backed off?

Article on TOS interview with Black, after saying all spring UConn was one of the ones recruiting him hardest:
Asked who is recruiting him the hardest right now, Black said "Indiana, Illinois, Memphis, Tennessee and Florida."
I'm very happy that KO has been camped out at Nike Global Challenge. Hoping it pays dividends.

Abu, having the ability to slide over and play the 5, probably makes him much more attractive to the staff than Black.

Funny that a few weeks ago my source close to Abu said that UConn wasn't recruiting him as hard as some schools and then Ollie called and asked what they have to do to recruit him. So now that they're showing him more love I wonder where UConn stands. I will try next week to see what the deal is.

I'm okay with this. Abu is much more of a post presence, while Black is the superior athlete. If Black goes to Florida, hopefully that pushes them out of the running for Abu (and maybe Goodluck) and he comes here. If Black commits to Indiana, Uconn leads for Devin Robinson.

I see us getting Abu or Robinson (I want Abu) at the 4, and I still would really like Chukwu at the 5.
at Pg, most people on the boneyard really want Perkins, I prefer Kaleb Joseph
Perkins seems a bit arrogant, and anyone who wants to go to Kentucky that badly has zero desire to get an education. I see a young Westbrook in Joseph, and he's localish. We can offer him a starting position, while he would most likely be a backup at cuse for a few years.

We are in a really good position with a lot of guys. That being said, the omnipotent pc fanboys are convinced they will get every top recruit on the eastern seaboard (and they might for all I know, which would be impressive for a program that hasn't danced in a decade). I think Ollie will be a superior recruiter to Calhoun, but who knows. Let's let the dominoes fall, and sit back and watch.

A lot of people on this board expect Facey to start at the 5 this season and Abu is just as tall as him plus he is much stronger, so yeah, I think he'll be able to play the 5 if KO needs him to.

Yeah, let's stop recruiting the kids who want to go to Kentucky. Let's take a look at the national rankings, scroll down to #101, and then work our way from there down to the kids who are praying for a Marist offer.

I expect Nolan to start at the 5 spot, but honestly I have no idea what to expect from him, nor from Facey as they gear up for the start of the season. I'm sure both are working on their respective games, and it's clear at least Nola needs to get stronger. I'm sure all the players could stand to get stronger...

he means the kids that publicly beg for for a Kentucky offer are not the type of kids that we might want. unless we have a real chance at him anyway. although ill take perkins right now if he'd commit

I find it much harder to root for a kid who wants to be the next in line to a one and done "school" like Kentucky. The kids who go there see college as a stop on their guaranteed road to the NBA, rather than the road itself.

Not every top 100 recruit begs for an offer from Kentucky. I'm not saying we shouldn't recruit kids who want to go to Kentucky, but when was the last time we beat them out for a recruit? Think before you type

I like Abu a lot. It seems even when he's off his game his motor never stops and he outworks everybody. I want a bruiser down low that goes to work and doesn't complain (sorry but AO), a warrior like a Jeff Adrien.

Yes! I love the Abu/Adrien comp. Exactly the kind of toughness our frontcourt currently lacks. It looks like Ollie wants him real bad.

Facey is not a Center either. He's roughly 6'9" and 180-190 lbs. He's a PF like Abu is. Neither player is classified as a Center in AAU, but PF, so why in competitive college basketball do you want them at Center? They are PF's. Only if we played Iona & Baltimore Eastern Shore are they Centers. At least Nolan is close to 6'10" and Brimah is a legit 6'11" with a massive wingspan & crazy hops.

Never recruiting him seriously. His reclassification caught everyone off guard. And they already had Anthony Davis and Terrence Jones down low

I think everyone knew Drummond was going to UConn regardless. He made that very clear. Why else would he show up for games? Andre's biggest mistake was constantly telling everyone he would not reclassify, so when an open scholarship came up, they gave it to Daniels. I think Andre was hurt by that. Once UConn knew he was serious about reclassifying, they tried to make it work for Andre. Just my opinion...

Where did you see him "beg"? I didn't. I saw him say that he wanted a Kentucky offer. Newsflash for you, son, so does just about every kid Ollie is recruiting. In case you missed it, lots of guys want to play there.

You can delude yourself all you want into thinking that the kids that want to go to Kentucky are "different" than the guys Ollie wants at UConn, but you sound incredibly silly doing it.

Not every top 100 kid "begs" for an offer from KY but 99% of them view college as a stepping stone to the NBA. Sure, some end up staying all 4 years and enjoying the hell out of the experience but I guarantee you if you asked the top 100 kids where they would rather be in 2 years, college or NBA, damn near every single one would say making millions in the NBA
