Recruiting hangover

Every year I say I will avoid recruiting news and rumors and every year I get sucked in. I'm an old fart who never learns his lesson but I'm still waiting for Abu, Chukwu, Snider and Robinson to make their decision. If recruiting is difficult for fans imagine what it is like to be a coach with your career dependent upon the decision of an 18 year old.
The ironic thing is we usually end up fine and the anxiety is wasted.

Exactly. Look at Xavier Rathan-Mayes. We all thought he was one of the biggest misses of the recruiting period last year, and it turns out he is just a wasted scholarship this year. But, you're right, we never learn.

I think it's fun to get caught up in the excitement. I've just learned to stay out of tall building and away from cliffs when kids announce.

I follow the men more than the women, but follow both. The women are much easier to keep track of as there are far fewer really talented players, and UCONN is usually in the hunt for multiple top 10 recruits every year.

On the men's side, there are so many moving parts, $ issues with schools like Ken$ucky, kids either blowing up, or falling off, and it seems like there's an A,B,C,D,E plan and beyond for these kids.

But like you, I try to remain stoic about it, but ultimately get sucked in as well. Go Ollie! F* PC!

I am with you 100%. Every year we talk about 10 players all the time and we r lucky if we get 1. Then- when we do not it is the end of the world. I am ready to talk about this years team and let the chips fall where they may. As always-

this is the fun of it... it is a male soap opera. just go in understanding we will not land 85% to 95% of the recruits
