To get a diversion from some of the recent unpleasant topics, I looked back at my recruiting rankings from the past 3 years. 2015 is still going on, of course, but I thought it was interesting to see who has been doing the best. The point totals come from averaging the points that I had given to them each year (from a formula I've put together).

As with any stats, interpretation is the key. Does this mean which teams should do best in the coming years? Somewhat, although there have been transfers and injuries, and NO, I am not going to go back and research every player and situation to edit them.

What it will ultimately reveal is how important a great recruiting class is -- if you get great players, do you win the title? We already know that is a yes-and-no question. Yes: you need great players. But No, there's coaching, injuries, transfers, and poor rankings that can lead things astray.

For now, just for fun ...

Just goes to show you how underachieving Duke is. When was the last time they got to a Final Four? 2006? Yikes.

Yes they've been underachieving but this chart doesn't show that ... yet.
These are the 2013-15 recruits, so only the 2013 recruits have played so far in college. The 2014s are entering frosh.

Oh I see. Well, I don't see them doing much better next year with Jones gone.

I'm thinking they are gonna have a pretty down year for them coming up. With a Walk-on, a JC Xfr, 6-1 SG and a Freshmen Wing/Guard as their only guards, looking like it could be a tough go.

Just to be clear this is recruiting classes of 2013, 2014, and 2015 combined? I ask as there is clearly going to be a lag between the class and them affecting the cumulative effect on the college team. This coming year 2011 recruits Kiah and KML, 2012 recruits Stewart, Jefferson, and Tuck, 2013 recruit Chong are going to be the core and who knows how much we can expect from Edwards, Ekmark, Nurse, and Williams the 2014 recruits.
Interesting that Uconn ranks that highly with our 2013 class in the mix.
As you say there are a lot of variables involved including true star power which is I think where Uconn has shown strongest over the last 15 years in recruiting - numbers are great but the #1-3 players and in general the top 10 numbers are more important generally than the 5 player strong classes of middling talent.

Yes and yes.

Hey Triad ...love your posts! And take heart, Duke can't continue to be the WBB whipping post indefinitely, can they. I mean someone else will eventually take the crown that weighs so heavily on your brow.

4 of the top 9 in the ACC. Going to be a really competitive conference for a while it seems.

I was a little surprised how high ND and Louisville were ranked, and they are in the mix for a number of top undecided recruits. This bodes well for great games.
