No. I probably should. It’s like a behind the scenes thing, but there’s Herbert basically envisioning an AI war vs People way way earlier than others.
Not quite the same, but in "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress" Heinlein had an AI aiding lunar separatists trying to overthrow the yoke of oppression from the Earth. I think he's a contemporary of Herbert. It's still one of my favorite sci fi novels I've read.

This was very good. Kind of a generic title and there's another movie with the same name. Probably got no marketing because I never heard of it before. It's currently on Hulu...

Flow. This is a nice little movie, no dialogue other than animal sounds. Somehow it works at telling the tale of a little black cat and several other animals it encounters during a flood that can only be described as "biblical". It's quite the journey for the little guy. Making it more fun for us, we have two cats, not yet a year old, who are black and look like the cat in the movie. We all watched together and the cats definitely were interested.

I found most of the depiction to be quite accurate. Yep, that's a cat alright.

The cats agreed. The sounds were captured from a cat, and dogs, etc. and my cats noticed.

Nosferatu. Big screen. Lilly Rose Depp as Emily Hutter, Nick Hoult is her husband Thomas, Bill Skarsgard is Count Orloff (the vampire), Willem DeFoe a professor (kind of a Van Helsing role, Aaron Taylor Johnson and Emma Corrin are the Hardings, friends of the Hutters. Emily has some weird dream like experience as a young girl, waking Orloff. Later she is beset by visions, seizures, sleepwalking etc. Her husband is sent to Romania where he encounters Orloff. He deduces that Orloff is trying to get back to Emily in Germany. Anything more is spoilers.

So, is it good? Yes and no. It's long. It's dark. It's beautifully filmed in a classic style. Going back to my HS lit class, it relies very heavily on the common theme of the day that female sexuality and sexual awakening are essentially a gateway to evil, it invites it in. The question then is what are the results of that and what can the woman (Emily in this case) do about it. Well that's the premise really. It's not fun, but it accomplishes its goals.
It’s a slow watch, but ultimately pretty rewarding. Amazing job of recreating the time period through the sets and the costuming. Of course, I paid 20 bucks to watch it on Prime and the next week the extended version came out on Peacock. is the extended version worth watching? Anyway, over all I’d say it’s worth a watch. Just not sure I want to watch it again, unless the extended version brings something more to the table.

Sing Street. Irish film about a teenaged boy Conor (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo) who is part of a struggling family in Dublin in the 1980s. Some name cast members here. Jack Reynor is superb as his older brother Brendan, down on his luck, but very much serving as brother and father figure for Conor. Due to financial issues, Conor gets sent to a new, free Christian Brothers school, where he's bullied and the principal is a bully as well. After a beating, Conor spies a pretty older girl, Raphina (Lucy Boynton). Trying to get the nerve to talk to her he asks if she'll be in a video for his band. She asks him to sing (A-Ha) and he gets her number. Now he needs a band and he and a friend start to create one. Along the way he learns the ways of women from Raphina and his brother, and also matures and learns to stand up for himself and gains confidence. It's a coming of age musical romance. Really solid cast, the original songs are mostly quite good. Miss Boynton is usually blonde, but not here and I really don't think I've ever seen a better representation of what I would have viewed as the ideal woman around 1984. The hair the eyeliner, she just nailed the look and performance. Recommended.

I recall seeing this a number of years ago, probably because it was directed by John Carney who also directed the movie Once, which later became a Broadway musical.

She's the gold standard in general, but doesn't have the 80s hair and eyeliner that, along with Jordache or Calvin Klein jeans made high school me turn into mush.
