The dialogue, music, and ambient noise / sfx are all competing and jostling with each other over a limited sound space. He seems to view it as a daring way to treat sound in movies. I just find it irritating. I listened to the soundtrack on Youtube after watching the movie, and it's quite good. I couldn't enjoy it as much in the movie, because I had to concentrate mental energy on hearing dialogue, while being shell shocked by blasts of sound in unexpected places.
