RC: Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm-Flailing Tubemen Owner

I was wondering about this as well. They were clearly too big to be brought in by a fan, can the schools bring whatever distractions they want to home games? Could we blast an airhorn over the speakers at gampel when other teams are releasing a free throw or shot attempt? Where’s the line?

Perhaps an old man perspective, but it feels like if students want to distract opponents, they should be doing it with stuff they themselves are waving around, not having machines do it for them.
Technology marches on! I find them very distracting when driving. Usually show up around tax preparation timing. I hope they get rid of them at games. I'd hate to have a seat behind one. Very annoying aren't they?

At a Miami (OH) game this year the mens swim team was camped behind the opposing basket in Speedos. yuk.

Did they stuff rolled socks in their crotches?

I didn't think any major sport would take a cue from BASEketball, but here we are.

I couldn't tell from watching, but I'm guessing they only turn them on for the free throws.

Marquette has been using the inflatable guy for a few years now too and my first thought was the same as a lot of folks here that it seems like it should be illegal in much the same way I believe it's illegal for stadiums to broadcast moving things on the scoreboard when someone is trying to kick a FG. I have no issues with whatever handmade objects or "bodily activities" the students can produce on their own, but technology items should be banned. At least before some dumb kid thinks it's cool to start using a laser pointer in the eyes of the shooter to "distract" them.

some idiot create a "loud cup" which has a hole to blow through to make a loud annoying noise "to cheer on your son or daughter," the worst possible product which I have never seen at any of our local events, thank God. I know noisemakers are not allowed at the youth sports we go to. I can't believe people would actually buy one of those. Maybe they don't.

I am sure someone must have checked with the Big East and the NCAA by now about whether the inflatables should be allowed

Is there something we could buy to make our team's FTs go through the hoop?

So, this is kind of a funny topic to me (both funny ironic and funny haha). We pay players to switch schools, we have schools that have pretend classes for players, we have a HUGE resource disparity that's ruining the competitiveness of the sport, etc... but this. The flailing-arm blow up guy thingy is what we're getting upset about 😂

I'm OK with any theatrics behind the hoop. Adds to the entertainment.

Thanks for the admission. Frankly, I am shocked and a little disappointed that Marquette is taking these actions. Not because I thought you were above cheating, I just figured you'd be better...
