A lot of people could be a fit for us... did he ever have an interest in UConn or coming north of the Mason-Dixon line to play ball?

Ktuck,

There are going to be dozens of transfers of guys that could undoubtedly help UConn. However, unless there is 1) a previous recruiting connection like Mateas from Penn St and Stewart, or 2) a northeast connection like Phillips and Stewart or 3) follows a coach like Donahue, the odds of UConn getting a sniff are slim and none. UConn came close with Dill and McNeal because both were heavily recruited by UConn out of HS. Shoemate is the only "out of the blue" transfer the UConn ever obtained and that involved a position change back to RB which other schools likely were not going to offer.

Just a bit of research will tell you that Malcome is from GA, was never recruited by UConn, already redshirted and only has 2 years of eligibility left. He will certainly go to an FCS level school to play for 2 years.

good points UConnRock... I just took a quick look at his profile on rivals (2010) .. He pretty much had every SEC school after him plus he provides a something we need, a power runner who probably wouldnt sit the bench if he came to Storrs... Makes sense with 2 years left and him having to sit out a year due to FBS transfer rules that he may not be a good fit for us...

Shoemate's "out of the blue" recruitment occurred because he had a high school teammate playing at UConn.

With all due respect to the OP, I just don't understand why these threads get started where the player transferring out has no ties whatsoever with UConn.

A combination of ignorance of the recruiting process and excitement about new information. No need to look down on people simply because they don't really know much about the process and our place in it.
