This is about as good as I could have said it. No, actually it's better than I could have said it.

If we are going to have to rely on a back that is shifty and has a quick burst, then that is always going to favor McCombs over DeLorenzo and Hyppolite. For the 1-yard bang, I'm fine with lining up DeLorenzo and having him power his way for 2...

That's my only issue with game 1 vs. Towson.. we didn't have that guy "For the 1-yard bang...." it was like we were tricking ourselves out of converting on 3rd and short Thursday night... or.. maybe we just don't really have anyone else that we can rely on other than McCombs... and whomever is saying that McCombs sucks is dellusional(sp?).. he does need some help though, just like any other star RB at the FBS level....

It just comes back to what is crystal clear to me.

We just aren't getting a lot of recruits that other big time programs want. We didn't under Edsall, and we're not (despise the #uptick nonsense) getting them under P.

Edsall could coach circles around P. He coached up players and turned them into NFL draft picks. He also didn't have the albatross of GDL around his neck, but that is P's own doing.

Jimmy, the only thing that gives me pause about your statement...and I mean the ONLY thing...is that Ryan Griffin came out publicly to say how positive his growth was under those two. I wouldn't have believed it unless I read it as a quote from him, but now that I have, I'm confused. My eyes tell me one thing, and Ryan Griffin tells me another...

Stop listening to what coaches and players say. Look at what they do. That's your first mistake.

It may actually be true in Griffin's case, who knows? My eyes also tell me that Griffin was an NFL TE before either of these losers came to Storrs.

A couple of things I think cuts the productivity of any of our backs. They are small by BCS standards. Heck......Towsons back was more of a BCS size and it showed.....how many yards?

Also, as Lou Holtz said last night "If you don't have a good offensive line, you don't have an offense"

The lack of such affects both the running game and passing game........regardless of the size and skill set of RB's and receivers.

We heard more than once that Walsh was punching in scores in goal line and short yardage situations in practice.

What happened to that ??? 1st and goal at the 1...why not use him ?

This..

exactly what I'm trying to get across.. u got these 'short yardage' situations and can't use ONE other RB or FB on the roster... It's always 5'7 170lbs carrying the ball on short yardage, goalline plays...I don't get that...

Makes you wish the smashmouth in the trenches run plays we used to have in the Edsall era.. just sayin...
