3 sides to every story yours ,mine, and the truth and that is something that got missed in this case.
Never understood why he gets a pass from the media. I don't think he killed anyone, but he most certainly knew what happeded and was uncooperative with the investigation. That is a coward.
So you're fine with Ray lying to the cops abut a double homicide committed by his entourage?

Its possible he didn't have an entirely positive view of the police from his background. And the police might have well earned that mistrust.
This post makes absolutely no sense at all.Watch it! Keep posting about Ray Lewis and his past and UConn men's hoops will lose another scholarship for failure to meet APR in 1983. Nice job ESPN, Lewis afterall went to the U so he'll be a face and voice that America should see. Their attitute . . . "better than someone with ties to UConn football". ESPN, Connecticut's good corporate neighbor.

You still have made zero sense in this thread.Come on man. Really? You don't get that in the NCAA's - and ESPN's - eyes all programs are created equal. North Carolina, UConn, Notre Dame . . . it doesn't matter they're all treated the same.

Lewis' attorneys, Don Samuel and Ed Garland, of the Atlanta law firm Garland, Samuel & Loeb, negotiated a plea agreement with Howard, the Fulton County District Attorney, where the murder charges against Lewis were dismissed in exchange for his testimony against Oakley and Sweeting, and his guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of justice.[12] Lewis admitted that he gave a misleading statement to police on the morning after the killings. Superior Court Judge Alice D. Bonner sentenced Lewis to 12 months' probation, the maximum sentence for a first-time offender;[37] and he was fined $250,000 by the NFL, which was believed to be the highest fine levied against an NFL player for an infraction not involving substance abuse.[38] Under the terms of the sentence, Lewis could not use drugs or alcohol during the duration of the probation.
Oakley and Sweeting were acquitted of the charges in June 2000.[39] No other suspects have ever been arrested for the crime.
I remember that he got a truck load of negative press at the time, mostly for not using good judgment regarding his entourage and what happens to formerly poor 20-somethings living with all that money and no guidance. My view is that this is the best possible example of the system at work? He pleaded to testify against his friends and he got the max sentence for the charges. Don't blame Lewis for the plea deal, blame the prosecutor. Most importantly (and contrary to what most other ex-cons have done), Lewis appears to he repented in the mind of the public. I don't think that is the case with others. That is the biggest factor on why he has been given a pass and why he is not generally considered a coward.
How has he repented? The guy lied to the police and then when he realized he could be facing a long time in jail, he decided to talk. Very noble of him.
Doesn't sound like it.So you're fine with Ray lying to the cops abut a double homicide committed by his entourage?
I'm not saying I'm happy with the way this was dealt with. But the system dealt with this and it is over. Why exactly shouldn't he work for espn? If he brings ratings and he behaves what's the problem?
Oh my God, don't start with the sociology of crime BS. Not here, it doesn't apply. His entourage killed two people and he lied to the police about it. It may have had a little bit to do with not trusting police, but i am willing to bet it had a lot more to do with his entourage killing two people and him knowing about it.
