Nobody really knows, but I wouldn't rule that out as a possibility. It's either that, or the UConn staff threw their hands up and decided to move on (which could be for a variety of reasons).

in all seriousness, I cannot remember a more talked about recruit on the Boneyard. There's literally 15 different threads dedicated to a guy who is a top 200ish talent.

I was going to say too bad nobody has rabbit for a nickname, but one of the Dakota teams is the Jackrabbits (South Dakota State, I think).

There's another small school in Washington (Evergreen State) called the Geoducks, for when regular ducks won't do.

Of course, the most ridiculous nickname competition probably happens when Williams faces UC Santa Cruz and you have Ephmen vs the Banana Slugs (both are DIII tennis powers, which is where they cross paths most often).

There's a community college with Artichokes as their nickname, which is bad for being a vegetable and because the natural way to shorten it would be 'chokes. But they are a two-year school and shouldn't count.

I know we've wandered off topic, but who really wants to be on topic?
