I like the way Ray says it's the parent's responsibility to make sure their kids read and learn - the teacher play a supporting role. If more people thought like that, our country would be much better off. History is not taugh anywhere as much as it was or should be.

Ray Allen is a special human being and as good as he was a basketball player he is a better person. Years ago The Courant did an extensive piece on Ray and it was apparent that he wasn't the stereotypical NBA superstar. It was all about learning and teaching his kids about the world at large. Let's face it, with his money he could fill his life from dawn to dusk in the pursuit of material things, but there's just a lot more to him.

Congrats to Ray Allen. Very noble of him to go beyond a game that made him rich. Since he's about breaking down stereotypes and hate, allow me to help his cause. This involves Muslims. One of the better write ups about what Muslims believe. Pass it around, please. Something that seems to be little realized in the "west", Jews have actually have great respect for Islam. And Muhammad is a descendant of Ishmael. Knowledge goes a long way.
