why should we help them return to being ok? if they have fallen this far let watch and laugh. let them fall off a cliff while we win ships and . if they come back to life in a couple years then think about games again but at this point let them rot, no need to lend a helping hand. they didn't help us lately did they? f them for now.We need to schedule some games against them in these down years. The ACC probably got to his head.
Really great quotes in the comments section of the article...
"what really scares the poop out of bc fans is that uconn is quickly building and is very sucessful in the BE right now. if uconn gets a invite to a big boy league, bc will be a afterthought in new england to uconn. not to mention umass isn't far away now. bc 20 years from now will be a holy cross but with big time hockey in a regional conf that no 1 cares about outside new england. the school is screwed if it doesn't get out of the acc. the b10 is the only upgrade possible but many like me fear if the b10 ever added a new england team that uconn would be the pick over us."
"If BC played UConn, in basketball and football, they would sell out to a raucous crowd of fans who (appropritely in a rivalry) don't like each other. That's what makes for great contests. But sadly DeFillipo evidently has an inferiority complex and avoids the Huskies. It's been reported that he blackballed UConn from the ACC, which would have provided a natural rival."
It's nice to see some BC fans calling it like it is.
I had to laugh at the writer's opening premise, i.e., that in 2006 and 2007, "Boston College owned arguably the hottest athletics department in the NCAA." Who on Earth would make that argument?
If finishing second in your league in football and making the Sweet 16 in basketball is all it takes to be considered "hot," then what words would describe our 2010-2011?
BCU went to the ACC for academic reasons. They have stated this publicly.
If a side effect of this decision is turning the athletic programs in a dung heap, so be it. As long as BCU is enjoying the advantages of ACC academics, athletics are simply not a consideration.
haha... that's what you get before my morning coffee...There are no reasonable BC fans. Those are probably UConn fans.
