Ranking all 65 Power Five schools in overall athletic success

>>The following ranking of the 65 athletic departments in the five major conferences – Atlantic Coast, Big 12, Big Ten, Pac-12 and Southeastern – is an average of their annual standing in the Learfield Directors Cup over the past five school years (2012-13 through 2016-17). The Learfield standings are used by the National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA) as the official measuring stick for how universities perform overall athletically in a given year.>>

65 - Washington State
64 - Rutgers
63 - Pitt

58 - BC
39 - Syracuse

3 - UCLA
2 - Florida
1 - Stanford

92, 57, 74, 57, 66 for UConn avg. of 69.2 better than a bunch of P5.

The rankings are also bunk by overweighting obscure spring sports. Are the Golf, Tennis, and Water Polo teams really representative of the best athletic program? No, they aren't.

Well in this part of the world we care about women's hoop and in New England and the upper mid-west hockey is pretty big. Lacrosse in central Ney York and D.C. To North Carolina. Baseball is big in the Southwest and west coast.

No more obscure than them winter sports of WHoc/MHoc/Skiing is to those southern based schools.

All sports are weighted equally. It's for broad based success as an athletic department over all four seasons.

No FH or WBB Champ hurt UConn this year.

Does Pat Forde understand how the Director's Cup works? It rewards schools that sponsor lots of sports, and especially marginal sports than few other teams sponsor.

For example, only 16 schools in the country sponsor men's gymnastics, but finishing 4th in men's gymnastics gets you the same number of points as finishing 4th in basketball. That is absurd.
